FAQ

Shopify Store FAQ

Questions store owners ask me before a Shopify project: what a redesign covers compared with a new store, how many products I set up, apps, fees and SEO. Redesigns start at $1,500 and new stores at $3,500. Timelines, rankings and care are covered on the Shopify service page.

FAQ

Before you start a Shopify project

Do you use a free or a premium Shopify theme?

I start from a free Shopify theme and customize it to fit your brand, so there's no theme fee. If you'd rather have a premium theme, that works too. You buy the license from the Shopify Theme Store and I build on it.

What's the difference between a $1,500 redesign and a $3,500 new store?

A redesign happens inside the store you already have: new design and structure, with your products, orders and customers staying where they are. A new store is built from scratch, with up to about 50 products, payments and shipping set up, and runs $3,500 to $6,000. If you already sell on Shopify, a redesign is usually the right place to start. Either way you get a fixed quote first.

How many products will you set up for me?

A new store at $3,500 to $6,000 includes up to about 50 products. If you have more, I quote the extra setup before the project starts, so nothing surprises you later. On a redesign your products are already in Shopify, so the work goes into the product page template and collections instead of re-entering items.

Do you set up payments and shipping?

Yes, on a new store. Payments, shipping rules and taxes all get set up and tested before launch, which is a big part of why a store costs more than a service site. Unclear shipping costs lose buyers at the last step, so I also put shipping and returns info right on the product pages where people decide.

How many apps should my store have?

As few as do the job. Every app adds code to your pages, and stacked apps are one of the main reasons Shopify stores load slowly on phones. On a redesign I go through your apps, remove what you don't use and drop what the theme can already do. Fewer apps also means fewer monthly app bills.

Do I still pay Shopify every month?

Yes. Your Shopify plan and any paid apps are billed to you by Shopify and the app makers, not by me, and they aren't part of my price. What you pay me is the one-time project fee. There's no care plan on top, because Shopify already handles hosting and updates.

What results have you gotten for other Shopify stores?

For TTM-Store, the redesign raised the store conversion rate 110% and cut load time from 5.4 to 1.8 seconds. Organic traffic went up 95% within 3 months and bounce rate dropped 38%. The TTM-Store case study shows what changed and why.

Can I get an audit before paying for a full redesign?

Yes. A UX audit costs $400 to $700 and gives you a written report on what's slowing the store down and losing sales, with recommendations in order of priority. Sometimes the fixes are small enough that you don't need a redesign at all. If you do go ahead, the audit becomes the list of what the redesign has to fix.

Do you set up SEO for my products and collections?

Yes, it's part of every store build. Collection and product pages get clean URLs, clear titles and product schema so Google understands what you sell. Images get compressed and described properly, which helps both search and speed.

Why do you recommend Shopify for online stores?

Because Shopify handles hosting, security, updates and checkout for you, which is exactly the part small store owners shouldn't have to babysit. My service sites run on WordPress with Elementor, but for selling products Shopify is simpler to run day to day. It's also why there's no care plan for Shopify stores.

Can you make small changes to my store without a big project?

Yes. I take on Shopify changes as one-off projects, like a new section, a product page fix or an app cleanup. Tell me what you need and I'll quote it upfront before I start. There's no monthly plan to sign up for.
