I do local SEO for Texas service businesses, mostly across DFW. Here the map pack is split between a patchwork of suburbs, and paid Local Services Ads often sit above it. Below are the nine cities I have local SEO pages for, and what is different about ranking in North Texas.
Each page covers that city's ZIPs, how its map results behave and what I would build first. Start with the one closest to where your business is based.
Where I am based. 339.58 square miles across five counties, so distance splits the city into markets that barely overlap.
Local SEO in DallasMore land than Dallas. Inside Loop 820, the suburbs on it and Alliance up north are three different searches.
Local SEO in Fort WorthBoxed in by US-75, the Tollway, the Bush Turnpike and SH-121, with neighbors across every one.
Local SEO in PlanoMailing addresses, school districts and city limits don't line up, and Celina next door grew fastest in the US.
Local SEO in FriscoFrom the courthouse square out to US-380, where Princeton, Melissa and Anna are growing fast.
Local SEO in McKinneyOffice managers on US-75 and homeowners across town search a few miles apart.
Local SEO in RichardsonBig enough that north Garland and south Garland near I-30 see different companies.
Local SEO in GarlandA small city with the lake on one side and Garland, Sachse and Rockwall close by.
Local SEO in RowlettNew subdivisions along I-20, a long way from the older neighborhoods up north.
Local SEO in MesquiteHouston, Austin, San Antonio or a smaller town: the same setup and the same prices, over video calls.
Talk about your areaIf the site itself needs work first, the Texas web design pages cover license numbers, Spanish versions and the same nine cities.
Web design in TexasThree things I plan around for every North Texas business.
NCTCOG's estimate for January 1, 2026, up 203,786 in a single year. Every new subdivision is a new batch of "near me" searches from people who don't have a plumber yet.
Distance is one of Google's three local factors, so a search in Frisco mostly shows businesses near Frisco. A company based in Mesquite won't hold the McKinney map just by adding McKinney to its profile. Pages for the cities near your base come first.
Google shows its paid Local Services unit "prominently" in results, and for trades like plumbing, electrical and HVAC it checks a state-level license. In Texas that is your TSBPE or TDLR license, so the number on your ads, profile and site should match.
Local Services Ads are paid per lead and stop when you stop paying. Local SEO is the part that keeps working, and I set it up so your profile and pages are ready if you run both.
Monthly SEO from $300 for a content-only retainer. Same prices anywhere in Texas, with one fixed quote after a 15-minute call.
Pide una cotización de SEO localThe ones closest to where your business is based, then the ones where you already have jobs and reviews. Distance is one of the three things Google uses for local results, so a city 40 minutes away is a long shot for the map even with a great page. Three strong city pages near you beat nine thin ones.
For Local Services Ads, yes. Google lists a state-level license check for trades like plumbing, electrical and HVAC, and adds extra screening for urgent trades. In Texas that means your TSBPE or TDLR license. I put the same number on your Business Profile and website, so what customers see matches what Google checked.
